A Truly Rare Coin in this superlative grade. This is a seriously outstanding example of one of the Edward VII key date halfcrowns. Although this & the 1903 halfcrowns don’t achieve the stratospheric prices of the 1905 coin, these are in reality many many times more illusive in this level of preservation.
A good number of the 1905 coins were generally put away and saved as they were known to be a low montage coin at the time, but the 1903 & 1904 coins pretty much all entered circulation without fanfare and inevitably wore out with the average condition being seen as only VG - Fine. Thousands have been scrapped during the various silver price booms & melts, so this wonderful coin represents one of the finest surviving examples.
