A CHOICE & VERY UNUSUALLY WELL STRUCK SPANISH NETHERLANDS (BRABANT) PHILIPSDAALER 1592 (9 over 2,/Z) “MM. HAND” (ANTWERP MINT)
A Very Scarce Overdate Variety.
A Tudor Period Coin Struck during the lifetime of Elizabeth I of England, Sir Francis Drake, Sir Walter Raleigh & William Shakespeare. Many coins of this “Tudor” period arrive in very worn condition having been heavily circulated or are ex-shipwreck recoveries which are notoriously blighted by corrosion and salt damage. But this particular example is a 1% “miracle survivor” that’s just been lost somewhere ‘safe’ for the past 428 years having had little if any circulation. This is an exceptionally good portrait piece showing King Philip II of Spain in all his Glory.
This is the man who (unsuccessfully) launched The Spanish Armada against England in 1588.
A Very Exceptional & HUGE Crown Sized Coin. EF and Almost As Made.
