A Seriously Exceptional Charles I “Scotland” Twenty Pence Piece.
(2nd Coinage) Briot’s Hammered Issue of 1636. With a magnificently well struck portrait & fabulous centrality. S.5550. This superb & rare coin has a truly exceptional overall strike quality with a superb portrait of a clarity which is just not seen on this issue. Normally flat struck and further circulated to destruction, this series is notorious for showing up in bent up basal state.

(** See photo of a typical clapped out forty pence in the Scottish specialised catalogue, which apparently was the best example they could muster !)

A Seriously Exceptional Charles I “Scotland” Twenty Pence Piece.
